Family Physicians Gather at Annual Meeting to Discuss the Current Health Care Environment

Opioid use, transgender care and contraception among topics to be discussed

(Boston, MA) March 21, 2017 – The Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians (MassAFP) will host its Annual Meeting on March 24 and 25 at the Taj Hotel in Boston. More than 200 regional family physicians, residents and medical students will be in attendance to address the many health care issues in Massachusetts and across the nation.

The event will kick off with a presentation by Michael L. Munger, MD, president-elect of the American Academy of Family Physicians and an active advocate for patients and physicians across the country. Munger will provide an update on the latest in health care reform efforts, state and national regulatory changes and how they will impact physicians and patients.

During the two-day event, family physicians and other experts will discuss new and changing issues in medicine, such as opioid use, colorectal cancer, transgender care, contraception and HIV testing. The Annual Meeting will give attending physicians the opportunity to receive credits for continuing medical education.

In addition, new members of the MassAFP board of directors will be inducted to serve for the coming year.  Flora Sadri-Azarbayejani, DO, MPH, FAAFP of Northfield, MA will be inducted as the new president of the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians. The academy will also hold its annual business meeting.
